Hello! I am Tamara from Barking Hen Jewellery, chief designer/jeweller/tea lady! Each piece of my jewellery is designed and lovingly handmade by me in my little workshop in glorious Wiltshire. I employ traditional jeweller’s techniques using silver and copper, drawing many of my designs freehand onto the metal then hand cutting them out using my trusty piercing saw. My designs are inspired by British nature as I find it endlessly emotive, beautiful and fabulous. I am strongly affected by the changing seasons and this is reflected in my designs: from seashells, swallows and bumblebees in summer, to foxes, robins and oak leaves in the autumn.

I graduated from Art College in North Wales where I studied jewellery design and manufacture some 20ish years ago – soon after, I set up my first workshop at a craft centre in Somerset, with the help a Princes Youth Business Trust grant. After 6 years of working for myself, I decided to work in a more commercial role within the wider jewellery industry to gain further qualifications and experience. I am now older and wiser (well, older!) and in December 2015 I was delighted to have the chance to take it all up again where I left off, and Barking Hen Jewellery was born!
