MARY Lu MITCHELL

Having moved to Bradford on Avon just before lockdown in 2020 I have found inspiration around every corner; the charm and beauty of the cottages lining the hillside and the tranquillity of the river and canal very soon found their way into my creations!

I work with free motion embroidery and raw edge applique, which is a form of textile art achieved on a sewing machine. The result is quite sketchy and lends itself to the “shabby chic” look which has become popular of late. After a career teaching and then latterly working for the NHS, I am delighted to be retired and have the time and space to indulge my passion!

The finished products are ideal small gifts, either for others or to treat yourself as a souvenir of our lovely town! They are all individually designed and handmade by me. I also take commissions for specific cottages from photos.
