Since retiring as a local headteacher, Karen is excited to be able to follow her passion for painting, mainly in watercolour although she also dabbles a little in acrylics and mixed media.

Karen believes that "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" and she finds time to paint in order to give herself some "me-time". She strongly believes that immersing oneself into an art is a kind of meditation – a time to slow down and breathe more easily.

Karen takes her inspiration from the world around her – flora, fauna and landscapes, adapting her paintings in a variety of styles, both representative, abstract and imaginary to suit her audience and how she is feeling at the time!

A keen traveller, Karen loves to paint on her travels, always carrying a sketch book in order to capture the wonders around her.

Karen has had many commissions with subjects as varied as houses (for housewarming presents) to abstract birds (for Christening presents) and is keen to pursue these commissions for that special, distinctive gift.
